Song Series: It's Time - Imagine Dragons

Hi everyone,
I'm currently finishing an assignment for a class and decided I should do a quick post on one of my favorite songs of the moment. I was listening to music on Spotify and this song came up and it reminded me how much I love it. I love the sound, the lyrics, the video. Everything.

Good luck to those going through finals at the moment.

Review: Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Backstage 035

(Yup, wearing no makeup other than lipstick and a little concealer around lips so the color has a nice base. Wasn't completely hating on my skin this morning.)

Brand: Revlon

Collection: Fall 2012 - Ultimate Suede

Color/Shade: Backstage 035

Claim:  Is your lipstick giving you both moisture and wear? This velvety soft formula with moisturizing shea butter and aloe is food proof and doesn’t quit. 20 Shades. Apply once and go.

Price: $8.49

Pros:

  • gorgeous color/very pigmented
  • packaging seems good, especially when twisting the product up.

Cons:

  • becomes a little dry as time passes

Overall Opinion: I was so excited to try this color out since Olivia Wilde had it on the display. I usually go for the color the model is wearing because I've noticed that it's more of a current color for the season. This one as you can see is obviously appropriate for Fall/Winter. I honestly expected it to be a lot darker, but I think you can definitely build up the color. When I first applied it was a little sheer and after a few more layers it was this beautiful color. It went on quite easily too, definitely a soft texture. However, once you leave the color on for a while it will dry out a bit on your lips.

Do I Recommend?: Yes, I do. This particular shade is gorgeous and anyone would love to own it. Maybe they aren't the most hydrating lipsticks, but with a nice balm under it or a lipgloss over it, I'm sure the dryness will go away.

Copperhead - Sally Hansen

Brand: Sally Hansen
Collection: Lustre Shine
Name: Copperhead 008
Price: $7.99

Application: Like all Sally Hansen nail polishes, it was a nice experience putting this color on. With just a one you're set with this color. The brush was pretty thick and it picked up a lot of the color. The polish was very thick as well which is why the color payoff was probably so good.

Color: The color of this polish is very interesting. I made sure to include photos of the bottle up close so you can see all the beautiful colors that are in there. You can see a lot of green and sometimes blue and purple. However, the most clear color is a copper bronzy color. That's the color that you see in your nails after you apply it. There is some times when a shadow of blue can be seen on the nails, but it's very rare.

Overall Opinion: I'm so impressed by this color. It's so gorgeous and perfect for this time of the year. This line of Lustre Shine polishes are amazing and I recommend them.

Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub Review

This product was probably one of my favorites this past Summer. I bought it when I was back in Miami because I needed a wash to have over there. My history with Aveeno is pretty good. I have been using their Positively Radiant moisturizer for years now. So since I had never bought any Aveeno washes I decided to give this one a shot. I had heard good things of the brightening line from them so I knew I was getting a good product.

Claim: Aveeno® Skin Brightening Daily Scrub helps improve skin tone, texture, and clarity to reveal brighter, more radiant skin. This unique formula combines natural soy extracts with  smooth, round microbeads to gently exfoliate while you cleanse, leaving skin soft, smooth and even-looking. Good for everyday use and gentle enough for sensitive skin, Aveeno® Skin Brightening Daily Scrub leaves skin looking and feeling cleaner, smoother and radiantly healthy.

Price: $6-$7 (link)

Pros:

  • clean smell
  • gentle
  • leaves skin feeling fresh and clean

Cons:

  • no cons

Overall Opinion: To tell you the truth I didn't like this product at first. I have had an oily/acne-prone skin for years and I usually like my face washes to have some type of scrub that I feel actually cleaning. In my head if I don't feel it, it's not cleaning my face. This scrub has really tiny grainy parts and that's what is cleaning your face. Even if its really small I have realized that it is doing it's job. My skin has improved a lot in the past year so I don't really need harsh scrubs to get rid of acne anymore. Also because of the acne I have had pretty sensitive skin so the gentleness helped it a lot.  I never saw any redness like with other scrubs. It was a very gentle, like it says.

Do I recommend?: Absolutely! This is a must try for anyone. It's a great scrub for everyday because it's not so harsh, and even those with mild acne(not sure how it is with healing or taking away any of that though). The price is pretty good and you don't need a lot to feel clean.

Nirvana by Sinful Colors

Brand: Sinful Colors
Name: Nirvana
Price: $1.99

Application: The application for this polish was actually very nice. A few of the Sinful Colors polishes don't have the smoothest application, but this one did. Not many coats were necessary.

Color: The color for this polish is absolutely gorgeous. It's great for Autumn or for these colder months. With 2-3 coats you have a nice rich mocha color on your nails.

Overall Opinion: This is probably one of the prettiest I have seen from Sinful Colors. I'm glad I decided  to try it out. Apparently it is a quite popular shade in the beauty community. It can be a dupe for Nars' Bad Influence, OPI's You Don't Jacques and a few more popular colors. So if you don't want to go out and waste so much for a beauty color, you should definitely give this one a shot.

October Ipsy Glam Bag

This month's bag was probably one of the best so far this year. Just by looking at the description of the products I knew I was going to love it. Not to mention the gorgeous bag that is totally me(I've been using it as a pencil case in my book bag)! This was definitely a beautiful and great bag so keep reading to see why. :)

To read more on it check out the cards below.
(click on them to make bigger!)

theBalm | What's Your Type? "the body builder" Mascara
Macara!? What? Yep. We finally received a mascara in the glam bag, which made me super excited. If you know anything about me, then you would know mascaras make me very happy! I have tried this a few times since getting it and I will have to say I do like it. I will probably do a mascara review in the future on this one, so look out for that! :)

mirenesse | Lip Bomb Glossy Lacquer Stain
I'm sure most of you saw this one on my Instagram because I was saying how lovely this color was. In case you missed it, here is the link. The consistency of this gloss is pretty thick and a bit sticky, but not in a bad way. I'm not sure how I feel about it being a stain, because it didn't seem to leave a stain. However, it is very pigmented and I loved that! I'm glad I received this color, since my friend apparently received a different color that didn't suit her.

Couture Colour | Pequil Oil Treament
You can never go wrong with hair oils. So for this reason, this also makes me happy. I have been working hard to take care of my hair since I haven't had a decent haircut since March and heat style it pretty often. Oil treatments are always welcomed on this neck of the woods! ;)

be a bombshell | Eye Liner
Another amazing product right here. Why? Because this eyeliner has made me realize how much I missed doing cat eyes with liquid pencils. I pretty much wore this liner for a whole week. It's very pigmented and not too wet at all which is perfect.

Coastal Scents | Eye Shadow
Eyeshadows too!? This bag is on a roll. Mind you I'm not a fan of all this colors, especially not together. However, I appreciate the colors. I really liked the darkest one. It's absolutely gorgeous and pigmented. Oh, and if they look like a big size to you, may I direct you to the top of this page so you can remember the size? Haha

Overall Opinion:
This is probably my favorite bag that I have ever received from this subscription service. It had the essentials for a makeup lover and I can truly say I was very happy with each of the items. My only complain with this service at the moment is: 1) the name... I still can't get myself to get used to it (especially since my laptop autocorrects it to "tipsy" every time), and 2)  the cards with the product description. Maybe I've been spoiled by Birchbox with their nice, clean cards, but I really think ipsy needs to step it up. I know they are a young company(not even a year old yet)but they should already know more or less what looks good. This is constructive criticism because I honestly think it will help them. Why am I saying this? If you see above, I received a gorgeous bag, right? Now, if you look at the card it doesn't go with it at all. I was really close to not photographing it because I didn't like how it looked with the overall feel of this bag. They need a cleaner look. I didn't mind their actual photograph cards on their older ones. But these just don't look tasteful at all. Ok, I'm going to stop now. You get the point. Aside from the card, I will remind you that I loved this bag and I don't see myself unsubscribing from this service anytime soon! :)

**Glam Bag is a monthly $10 subscription service. I pay for it myself.

September Ipsy Glam Bag 2012

Yes, this is a month late, but this way I can let you know how some of the products went. Hehe Receiving the bag for the month of September was interesting considering this was the first bag that was introduced as belonging to ipsy.com. What is this odd website you ask? Apparently that is what myglam is called now. The bag itself was very simple, and I wasn't a big fan of the simplicity. However, it could be quite useful when you don't want something with too much color.

To read more on it check out the cards below.

London SOHO New York | Smudge Brush
This brush was actually fun to get. I instantly loved the size of the actual brush because it was round. It can be used for multiple techniques, like smudging eyeshadow or for concealer. The bristles are a little scratchy but it's not a big deal.

jane | sparkle gloss
Since it has been a while since I got this, I can say I love this gloss. I didn't think I would like it because  I have been receiving lip glosses from the bags and haven't like them. However, a little bit of this goes a long way and it's not sticky.

Circus by Andrea's Choice | Nail Color in Tightrope
This color is so pretty. If you have read my blog post on this new brand then you would know I have come a long way. I'm not one to wear bright colors, but this brand has changed that. I'm not sure what was going on when I applied this color though, it kept appearing matte. It was a beautiful color regardless of that though and I was very happy to receive another of these colors.

Carol's Daughter | Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer
So, I have really used this product a lot in the past month. First of all, how could I not? It smells absolutely amazing! Like a really expensive flowery perfume. I love putting it on the ends of my hair because it makes them smell great. As for the repairing split ends, I think it does a little of what it says it should do. I haven't cut my hair since March and I have had less split ends then I have had in a while, and since using it I have definitely seen less of them too.

MIRABELLA | Eye Colour in Semiformal
I was pretty happy to get this color. It looks so pretty and swatches the same as I thought. This might be a good color for Fall, so I can't wait to use it more.

Overall Opinion
I was pretty content with the blag. I'm usually happy with what I get in the bags so that is nothing new. I'm not entirely sure why they change the name of the company to ipsy. I don't really like the name. If someone knows why they changed it I would really be interested in hearing about that.

**Glam Bag is a monthly $10 subscription service. I pay for it myself.
