Looking for new exercises?

In the past couple of months I have been more motivated to exercise than I probably have been all my life. I had a personal goal, and not in weight or anything specific, just in the way I felt and saw my body. Since I am a college student currently living on campus and allowed to eat at a buffet for all my three meals, I was noticing a bad habit with what I was eating and decided it was time for a change. I looked online for exercises for the specific body part I wanted to work out, did those and changed the way I was eating. Stressing myself out with too many exercises is not my style. I want to be somewhat fit, not overly toned or anorexic skinny by starving myself. I know my limits.

But this isn't what I'm here to mention. I came upon a website, not too long ago, that is very valuable to me. It lets you pick a specific part of your body and then it shows you exercises for toning that up. I thought this is really cool and would help out people that aren't necessarily in an exercise routine but are just looking for new ways to work out. Granted, these are very beginner style exercises, but maybe you haven't heard of some. ;)

Miami Drugstore Haul

While in my break in Miami, I would sometimes go out and look at things in CVS. I thought this was the perfect time to stock up on beauty stuff since I don't have that opportunity while in school. I don't drive so I don't have the luxury to buy new stuff unless someone drives me there. I also don't have the luxury to buy things unless they're cheap. Although lately I've been buying a few stuff here and there, but I justified it as Christmas presents to myself ;).

I mostly bought things that I have heard good reviews of and I wanted to try them. Now that I'm looking at the photo a lot of it is for nails. I won't post individual photos because I took this before I left and my mom hasn't shipped these things to me.

For nails:
  • Sally Hansen Insta- Dri: This is something I have tried before and had purchased many times. I missed having this since I'm such a klutz and mess up my nails all the time.
  • Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Big Money: I saw this on a YouTuber and I thought it was gorgeous since I've been into glitter and goldish colors.
  • Revlon Facets of Fuschia: If you look back to my Christmas Wishlist you would know how obsessed I am with this color. I have been looking for it for months and no store seemed to have it. What are the odds that I find it in local Miami Target?
  • OPI's Mini Katy Perry Collection: As my friends know, I'm also a bit obsessed with KP and I really wanted this collection. But it was difficult to find all the shades since everyone wanted it. I was so surprised when I find this at a local store back home too! :)
For lips:
  • Revlon Color Burst Lip Butters: Since everyone loved this I went out and got a few. Only two are in the photo but I got another one, so 3 in total. I'll take photos of them eventually.
For face:
  • Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser: This is another product that everyone has loved and I'm a big fan of this brand's concealers so I had to try it!
For hair:
  • Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo: I have been a bit hesitant to buy this product. I've known about dry shampoos for a while but some reviews have made me a little scared of them. I saw this was just 2 dollars and it's a small can, so I thought it was a great way to try it!

So this is all I bought from drugstores. If any of you have tried any of these things don't be shy to let me know what I should look forward to, or what I shouldn't! :)

Look out for reviews on these as soon as I get them!

Nail of the Week: 1/20/12 (Snow Storm Inspired)

Last night I tried out a look I really wanted which was white nails and I got sucked into trying some ombre design on it. I was inspired by all the snow that has been falling lately in school. Today we are suppose to get a lot of snow and so far it hasn't stopped all morning. I thought it came out pretty good for my first ombre attempt. I wish I had a thick top coat though that way I wouldn't have so many bumps from the glitter. If anyone is interested I can do a post on how I did this. :)

Back to School + Pics from Plane

Today Winter Break was officially over for me. I left sunny Florida early in the morning and arrived at a not so sunny destination. I haven't posted much lately because I haven't had much to write about. I will try to get back to my usual posting schedule and keep up with everyone's blogs. :)

My First LUSH Purchase

I recently made my first purchase from LUSH and it happened to be a "Mint Julips"(funny name) Lip Scrub. They had a few more flavors, but this is the only one that I probably wouldn't get tired of. I can't wait to use this as my lips have been so gross because of the cold weather and when I go back to school it will probably be worse. I think I'll be really happy with this and I really like the ingredients:
Castor Sugar, Organic Jojoba Oil, Vanilla Extract, Tagetes Oil, Peppermint Oil.

Sounds Yummy, eh?
Have any of you tried this, or want to?

Naked Series: Look #2 (Michelle Phan Meetup Day)

I haven't had a lot of places to wear makeup since I've mainly been relaxing at home in Miami until I go back to school in a few days. However, yesterday came the opportunity to wear makeup, so of course I did. It felt a little weird, to be honest. I usually wear makeup 5 out of the 7 days of the week for school and work and lately I haven't had the pleasure of continuing that. So seeing as the last time, before yesterday, that I put on makeup was on New Year's Eve I can say it was an odd experience. I've also felt weird applying makeup because I don't have all the brushes or products I work with. Can't wait to go back!

Anyways, there wasn't much thought to this look. Just wanted to wear something natural that wasn't too dark because somehow my natural curly hair yesterday didn't go with that.

For this look I used:

  • UD Primer Potion on the whole lid
  • Sidecar on the inner half of the lid
  • Darkhorse on the outer half and blend it out
  • Smog on lower lash line
  • UD 24/7 Pencil in Zero on outer bottom and upper half of water line
  • Milani liquifeye in Brown on upper lash line
  • Mascara: L'Oreal Voluminous Million lashes (2 coats)

I met Michelle Phan!

Guess who I just met?! Yep! Michelle Phan was at a local mall in Miami tonight and I just went there to meet her at the Sephora.

Kim Kardashian's Makeup Artist

Yeah, everyone is tired of the Kardashians taking over every piece of news these days (I know I am). But I'm not here to talk about them so much, as to talk about Kim's makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. I heard about him over a year or two ago when YouTuber Emily from Beauty Broadcast mentioned him in one of her videos. I went to check him out and I really liked how he did makeup. When I look at famous people it's not that I look at them to idolize them but to idolize their makeup. ;) In the past couple of years I've been loving people like Megan Fox, Katy Perry and Angelina Jolie, but it's not so much that I agreed with the reason why they're famous but because their makeup is just so gorgeous.

LOST

Last night I finally finished watching all six seasons of Lost. If any of you know the show you know it's very addicting and since I started the first season I couldn't stop watching it. I started sometime in the beginning of October because our school had a fall recess and since I live so far from home I stayed in the dorm during that time. A nice way to pass time, I decided, was watching shows I liked or movies. I went to my school's library and checked out some movies and while doing that I saw they had a lot of show collections. While skimming the list Lost popped up and I have no idea what I based my decision off of, but I decided to start watching from the beginning.

The show is based on a group of people landing on an island and from there they encounter all sorts of unusual and mysterious events. Of course what makes this show great is the fact that your questions are never answered and they always leave you wanting more. However, how bad is it that you start something by knowing the ending? Ya know, like reading the last page of a book before starting. Well, that's what happened to me. When the Finale of the show was premiering back in 2010 I tuned in like all the fans. Thing is, I wasn't a fan. A lot of my friends were going to watch it and I'm pretty sure I was talking to a guy I liked back then and it made me want to tune it so we had something in common(I know, bad way to start off any relationship haha - just be yourself people!). But I couldn't help it. I watched it.

Good thing is that since I had no idea what I was watching it never really sunk in. Only when watching the ending last night were my memories of that day suddenly coming back. I remembered all from that episode and it was the weirdest experience waiting for things to happen.

Enough of that. I really enjoyed the show and I would recommend it to anyone. I thought it was going to take me forever to finish it but one day I really got hooked. Once you get passed the dragging beginning of them figuring out what to do, it starts to get interesting. I'm pretty sure I can say this has been my favorite show of all time. It's the first time I have ever done this (by this I mean wasting all my weekends and free time squeezing episodes in 121 episodes) with any show and I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I ended up liking it.

Call me crazy but I think I'm going to start the season again because I'm sure everything will make sense if I do that. I can't explain how well written this show is and there is no disappointments with the plots. Eventually everything is pretty much explained and all it takes is some good thinking to put the pieces together.

If anyone is interested and has seen the last episode, here is an explanation of the last episode of the show explained by one of the writers of the show. If not don't bother, because it will spoil everything for you!

On a funny note, here is a video from that site on a "How It Should Have Ended" parody.

So has anyone ever watched LOST, or wants to?

Coldplay

Coldplay is one of my favorite bands and this week I was just going to make a post one of their songs but after a lot of thinking I decided just to make a post on a few of my favorite songs from them at the moment. They have a new album called Mylo Xyloto which is a bit different from their other stuff but still very good. It's just a matter of giving the music a shot. I picked to feature this band because it came up right before New Years on a tv show that was at the place I was celebrating the night. I thought it was a nice way to start the year with the same thing I ended.

Paradise - Coldplay,
I really like this song and it has grown on me. The video is a bit weird but that too has grown on me. Coldplay is so talented and I know this album will be as successful as their previous ones.

Yellow - Coldplay,
is probably my favorite song from them. I don't remember why I started liking this song because it was a long time ago. However, everything I hear it makes me happy and calm. It brings me back to very happy times when this music went perfectly with my life.

Princess of China - Coldplay,
is the song that stood out to me right out bat from their new album. I love how Rihanna is in it and how her voice makes this song so beautiful. It usually gives me goosebumps.

I know this blog is mainly beauty but I thought adding the music series every week would be a change to the beauty stuff. I hope some of you enjoy it and share the same taste as me. :)

Surprise! Sephora Haul

I've had these pics ready since before I left school but I haven't really found the time to post them up. Like everyone saw in my wishlist, I really wanted the Naked pallete and before I wrote that I had ordered it the previous weekend as a Christmas gift to myself. If anyone has ever wanted this pallete you can imagine how upset I was when tracking my package it said it was somewhere it wasn't, hence the annoyed post of my package taking forever to arrive. That same day, maybe about an hour or two after posting that, it said it had been scanned in my city. I was so happy that it finally made it, and picked it up a few days later! :) I waited forever to open it because I had finals and other stuff, and I really wanted to enjoy opening it.
The only reason I made this purchase is because Sephora sent me a $15 giftcard on any order over $50. Obviously this is an amazing offer, so I took advantage of it. Aside from the Naked pallete, I ordered a Benefit Sephora Exclusive which brought some mini primers from the brand. Also, right before I order anything from websites I always look for coupon codes, and I found a great one that included a clutch with 12 samples. It was either a Hello Kitty clutch or another colorful one, and I picked th HK one because I thought it was cuter. Aside from this I got the 3 free samples which I just picked some perfumes.

I will obviously do reviews on these eventually once I've had enough time with them. I plan on doing a series with the Naked pallete like I did with the Book of Shadows.
Naked Pallete - $48
Benfit One Prime Day - $10
