My Cute Little Watch From Target

Over a month ago I saw that Target had finally added some new watches. I have heard that they make some really nice looking ones, and for a very small price. A few weeks ago I went searching for them and the watches area at my store was completely wiped out. I didn't give up because I went back about a week after, and lucky for me I found the exact watch I was looking for, and there was only one left!

Photos of New York City #1

Hi everyone, I recently went through a bunch of the photos I have taken and found these. I meant to put these almost a year ago. In September of 2011, I spent a weekend in the city, just because. My university is a few a few hours away so my excuse for a relaxing weekend is to go to New York City of all places and maybe do a little bit of shopping. ;) I'm not sure why I never uploaded these, but I will randomly be showing you some, if not at all of my photos from my trips in the past year.

Hope you enjoy them! :)

Cream Eyes with Dark Lips

These photos were actually to show the dark color that I was wearing on my lips. However, all the places I took the photos, showed the lips way too bright. I wasn't going to edit and fake the color on Photoshop because I didnt want to lie about it. So, I decided to post the photos anyways since I had already taken these. On my phone and in my person the color is a dark plum color, just so you know what I was aiming for.

Trend Alert: Dark Lips

So my dear Katy Perry is one of the many celebrities rocking the dark lips/gothic trend. It's a weird and unexpected thing that came up in the middle of Spring going to the Summer season. Usually dark lips are likely to be seen in the Fall and Winter time because people save their bright pinks and corals for the warmer months. I'm honestly loving this trend. I'm honestly a fan of dark colors year-round so this trend fascinates me.

Here are some of the many celebrities that have been seen wearing this look.

Emma Stone
Katy Perry
Camilla Belle
Jennifer Lopez

A lot of brands in the past years have come out with their usual collections and often add a really dark color for those people that are risk takers. Here are some options I found:

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick 06

ClaimAmazing alluring shades developed by Kate for RIMMEL. Exclusive signature pack, smooth on pure London class with the Iconic Lasting Finish Kate lipstick. A true chic treat. Unique, sexy and unconventional, just like Kate. Black Diamond brings incredible new levels of light reflective elements. Creating gorgeous, hypnotizing tones that make you look, then look again. Wow. Get ready to fall in love with your new signature colour that capture all the flair, edge and timelessness of Kate's unique look.

Price: $4-$5
Pros
  • very pigmented
  • smells great, like berries.
  • smooth

Cons:
  • a little drying and settles into cracks

Overall Opinion: This lipstick is fantastic. Rimmel lipsticks are probably my favorite lipsticks and this one is no exception. The color I picked is a very interesting color. On the little sticker outside in the container, it looks like a darker red but on the lips it looks orange/neon pink/coral. It's a weird mix of colors and in different lights it can pass by many shades. However, it is so bright and I love that! I'm definitely a bright pink girl(and dark colors too!). It goes on so nice, but since it is so pigmented you really have to watch were you put it or else you will have to clean it up. I noticed after a while that it settled into the lines on my lips. That's probably the only thing I really didn't like about it.

Do I recommend?: Yep! It's a gorgeous and smooth lipstick. I definitely want to go back and buy more shades if I can find the ones I want.

July Glam Bag 2012

The July Glam Bag is another summer themed bag. It is mostly for a vacation even if doesn't say it clearly. The info card behaves like a postcard with a "Greetings from MyGlam". Again this month my friend received it before I did even though we live a a couple of miles from each other. I have to say I wasn't a big fan of the bag itself at first, but now I think the colorful pattern is really cute and fun!

The theme for this bag was The Land of Beauty.
To read more on it check out the cards below.

Here are the rest of the cards included:
(NUME deals)

(Andrea's Choice collection sticker)

Juice Beauty | Green Apple SPF 15 Moisturizer
This moisturizer smells great! It looks like a very refreshing product for the summer. I was little hesitant about the scent because I didn't want to smell like apples all day. But it surprisingly smells good. Not a usual apple scent in my opinion. It felt a bit thick when rubbing it for the swatch.

NUME | HydroPunch Hydrating Conditioner
This seems like a good product to use after you come back from the beach or pool. Your hair usually is in need of moisture during that time, or you can use it before going into the water to prep your hair. I don't like the size of this sample though. I have long hair so this isn't really enough to get all of the ends.

Yes To Cucumbers | On-The-Go Facial Towelettes
I love this sample. I haven't tried it yet, but I think it looks like a good product. It's a good enough sample with 10  towelettes that will give you a good idea on whether you like it or not! My friend didn't really like the smell, but I'm not a picky smells person when it comes to my makeup removers. However, the word "soothing" in the package reminds me of my friend who tried these and said that it felt like it was burning on her face. Hmm...

Buxom | Big & Healthy Lip Polish
Oh yeah! One of the most popular lip plumbers! I had never tried this brand or this product, and I'm happy to say I love this. It felt great, color wise and texture. The tingly sensation of the plumper isn't bad and although I don't see a major difference I can see a little fullness here and there on my lips. The color is called Leslie.

Circus by Andreas Choice | Nail Color
This looks like so much fun! I love this bright yellow and will probably wear it once my manicure chips or something. It's a gorgeous color for Summer. I like the amount that was given and apparently these aren't even out yet. I had never heard of Andrea even though she is pretty popular on YouTube and she is the creator of these polishes. This shade is called Somersault.

Overall Opinion
I think this was a fun bag and like this month's Birchbox, I think I will be using all these products up!

**Glam Bag is a monthly $10 subscription service. I pay for it myself.

Creative Days

self portrait for my makeup challenge last summer

It has been a life journey to find new ways to be creative. I have always been more artsy than anything else. When I was little I use to paint and draw so much. It was entertaining to mix colors and designs. Now, at 20 years I'm slowly rediscovering the passion I had for it. Owning a DSLR camera was the first step I think I subconsciously took to get my creative juices flowing again. When I bought my camera I had big plans for us together. It would be the outlet I needed to show what I saw in the world, but at the same time edit it in the way that I wish it looked like. Which led me to Photoshop and other programs that allowed me to do this. Life also led me in the direction of painting again and it was great. I took a class last semester of painting and that made me want to work on that once more.

A few years ago, I started this blog to write about my life and have fun doing it. However, it has slowly turned into writing about makeup and I don't mind that all because in turn my worlds collide (in a good way). The photo above is a perfect example of what my journey has created. Last summer I decided to do a 7 day makeup photo challenge, which I didn't finish for one reason or another. It was so much fun to come up with these looks, or recreate an original one and make it my own. Now, I think I lost that motivation again because I have started to take an interest in other things. Although I'm not ready to share what that is just yet, I have to say I'm a little frustrated these days. I want to be creative yet the ideas don't flow to me as easily as they used to.

Today I made it a goal to focus on myself, and I somewhat did, yet I slowly went back to how I felt yesterday which was stressed out and uninspired. I think the main reason for this is because I have so many ideas and they don't translate to what I'm doing. Everything just ends up messy and I won't put something out there if I know it's not perfect or close to what I would like it to look like.

I think my main problem right now is that I don't feel motivated by my surroundings. As much as I love being back home in Miami, I feel more relaxed and myself back in school. Miami is way too LOUD for me sometimes and I want to be locked away from everything. I'm not sure if this is my problem right now but I hope I feel better about creating things soon.

Instagram Diary | #2

Photos taken by me - @isadayana on Instagram.

It has been a pretty exciting time since my last Instagram Diary. I have since participated on a photo challenge for the month of July. Although I'm a little behind (about 3 days behind, yikes) I have enjoyed taking photos for each day. Once the challenge is done I will post those in one post. In the meantime here are the photos that I take when I'm not doing the challenge.

1. Me with my favorite Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain
2. Fireworks on the 4th of July
3. A really pretty pink nail color
4. A Delicious little ice cream
5. Oatmeal and cottage cheese
6. Piggies I found at a Hallmark store
7. Shoes I fell in love with
8. Bacon Sundae from BK
9. Working on some blog posts

In the past week or so I have gone back to posting photos of food like I used to. I have been eating really yummy foods and I had to share them. So expect to see more photos of food here and there. Sharing these photos is so much fun for me. If anyone is wondering the filter I'm loving right now is "1977". It makes the photos a nice shade of pink and I love the border it comes with.

July Birchbox 2012

The July 2012 Birchbox is another great summer box. This month the company has teamed up once again with a magazine to bring us some amazing products. When I opened the package it came in, I was immediately happy with my box. I saw that the magazine they had teamed up was Glamour, which happens to be a magazine I subscribe to monthly. The box's theme is "The Senses" (see it, hear it, taste it, touch it, smell it). This means that for every product in the box they will try to attract one of the senses.

Read the cards below for the actual description (:
(click them to make bigger!)

AHAVA | Purifying Mud Mask : This mask is suppose to be used on your face to detoxify it. The instructions on the back say to apply it and leave it there for a few minutes, then rinse it off. I will definitely try it out and see how it works. It felt really nice on my arm when I was swatching it.
Full size: $30

Laura Geller | Doubled Dipped Lipstick : This is the product that I was little disappointed with at first. I thought the whole idea is a bit old. I thought they stopped making these double sided lipsticks. However, I was also a bit happy that I received a lipstick, as this is the first one I have received from Birchbox. After swatching the colors, I changed my mind about these. The colors are absolutely gorgeous and so creamy! Very shimmery, but not in a bad way.
Full size: $17. 50

Manna Kadar | sheer glo shimmer lotion : This product is meant to be used with your foundation or as highlighter. It is a gorgeous color for summer and it blends out beautifully without being leaving you feeling greasy. I'm not saying I will buy this... but I'm not saying I won't(in the future). Haha. Although I like this, I didn't like the packaging of this sample. I'm not sure how to work this. It kinda opened by itself because I lightly pulled at it. I can't seem to close it, but I don't think you can. If someone knows how to work this tell me, because if not it's gonna go all over my stuff if it gets pressed by mistake.
Full size: $29

Oscar de la Renta | live in love : I have always loved ODLR perfumes. I own one myself that I got as a present. This one is very similar. Strong floral smell. I'm glad they're putting some popular perfume samples again. I'm more likely to buy a perfume from a brand that I know than one that I have never heard of before, even if I have a sample.
Full size: $25-78

Lifestyle Extra
Birchbox Exclusive | Earbuds : I think these extras are the best thing ever! I love this month's extra. They are quite good in my opinion. Once you have them on they really block the noise from the outside.

Overall Opinion: I was very pleased with this box. All the products are great, and I will definitely use all of them up unlike in other boxes. They are great Summer products. All these products are definitely great for a vacation. Grab the shimmer, a lipstick and earbuds and relax by the beach. When you return detoxify your face with the mask, sprinkle some of the perfume sample after and go out at night . See? It's perfect for a great vacation! :)
