Nirvana by Sinful Colors

Brand: Sinful Colors
Name: Nirvana
Price: $1.99

Application: The application for this polish was actually very nice. A few of the Sinful Colors polishes don't have the smoothest application, but this one did. Not many coats were necessary.

Color: The color for this polish is absolutely gorgeous. It's great for Autumn or for these colder months. With 2-3 coats you have a nice rich mocha color on your nails.

Overall Opinion: This is probably one of the prettiest I have seen from Sinful Colors. I'm glad I decided  to try it out. Apparently it is a quite popular shade in the beauty community. It can be a dupe for Nars' Bad Influence, OPI's You Don't Jacques and a few more popular colors. So if you don't want to go out and waste so much for a beauty color, you should definitely give this one a shot.

October Ipsy Glam Bag

This month's bag was probably one of the best so far this year. Just by looking at the description of the products I knew I was going to love it. Not to mention the gorgeous bag that is totally me(I've been using it as a pencil case in my book bag)! This was definitely a beautiful and great bag so keep reading to see why. :)

To read more on it check out the cards below.

theBalm | What's Your Type? "the body builder" Mascara
Macara!? What? Yep. We finally received a mascara in the glam bag, which made me super excited. If you know anything about me, then you would know mascaras make me very happy! I have tried this a few times since getting it and I will have to say I do like it. I will probably do a mascara review in the future on this one, so look out for that! :)

mirenesse | Lip Bomb Glossy Lacquer Stain
I'm sure most of you saw this one on my Instagram because I was saying how lovely this color was. In case you missed it, here is the link. The consistency of this gloss is pretty thick and a bit sticky, but not in a bad way. I'm not sure how I feel about it being a stain, because it didn't seem to leave a stain. However, it is very pigmented and I loved that! I'm glad I received this color, since my friend apparently received a different color that didn't suit her.

Couture Colour | Pequil Oil Treament
You can never go wrong with hair oils. So for this reason, this also makes me happy. I have been working hard to take care of my hair since I haven't had a decent haircut since March and heat style it pretty often. Oil treatments are always welcomed on this neck of the woods! ;)

be a bombshell | Eye Liner
Another amazing product right here. Why? Because this eyeliner has made me realize how much I missed doing cat eyes with liquid pencils. I pretty much wore this liner for a whole week. It's very pigmented and not too wet at all which is perfect.

Coastal Scents | Eye Shadow
Eyeshadows too!? This bag is on a roll. Mind you I'm not a fan of all this colors, especially not together. However, I appreciate the colors. I really liked the darkest one. It's absolutely gorgeous and pigmented. Oh, and if they look like a big size to you, may I direct you to the top of this page so you can remember the size? Haha

Overall Opinion:
This is probably my favorite bag that I have ever received from this subscription service. It had the essentials for a makeup lover and I can truly say I was very happy with each of the items. My only complain with this service at the moment is: 1) the name... I still can't get myself to get used to it (especially since my laptop autocorrects it to "tipsy" every time), and 2)  the cards with the product description. Maybe I've been spoiled by Birchbox with their nice, clean cards, but I really think ipsy needs to step it up. I know they are a young company(not even a year old yet)but they should already know more or less what looks good. This is constructive criticism because I honestly think it will help them. Why am I saying this? If you see above, I received a gorgeous bag, right? Now, if you look at the card it doesn't go with it at all. I was really close to not photographing it because I didn't like how it looked with the overall feel of this bag. They need a cleaner look. I didn't mind their actual photograph cards on their older ones. But these just don't look tasteful at all. Ok, I'm going to stop now. You get the point. Aside from the card, I will remind you that I loved this bag and I don't see myself unsubscribing from this service anytime soon! :)

**Glam Bag is a monthly $10 subscription service. I pay for it myself.

September Ipsy Glam Bag 2012

Yes, this is a month late, but this way I can let you know how some of the products went. Hehe Receiving the bag for the month of September was interesting considering this was the first bag that was introduced as belonging to ipsy.com. What is this odd website you ask? Apparently that is what myglam is called now. The bag itself was very simple, and I wasn't a big fan of the simplicity. However, it could be quite useful when you don't want something with too much color.

To read more on it check out the cards below.

London SOHO New York | Smudge Brush
This brush was actually fun to get. I instantly loved the size of the actual brush because it was round. It can be used for multiple techniques, like smudging eyeshadow or for concealer. The bristles are a little scratchy but it's not a big deal.

jane | sparkle gloss
Since it has been a while since I got this, I can say I love this gloss. I didn't think I would like it because  I have been receiving lip glosses from the bags and haven't like them. However, a little bit of this goes a long way and it's not sticky.

Circus by Andrea's Choice | Nail Color in Tightrope
This color is so pretty. If you have read my blog post on this new brand then you would know I have come a long way. I'm not one to wear bright colors, but this brand has changed that. I'm not sure what was going on when I applied this color though, it kept appearing matte. It was a beautiful color regardless of that though and I was very happy to receive another of these colors.

Carol's Daughter | Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer
So, I have really used this product a lot in the past month. First of all, how could I not? It smells absolutely amazing! Like a really expensive flowery perfume. I love putting it on the ends of my hair because it makes them smell great. As for the repairing split ends, I think it does a little of what it says it should do. I haven't cut my hair since March and I have had less split ends then I have had in a while, and since using it I have definitely seen less of them too.

MIRABELLA | Eye Colour in Semiformal
I was pretty happy to get this color. It looks so pretty and swatches the same as I thought. This might be a good color for Fall, so I can't wait to use it more.

Overall Opinion
I was pretty content with the blag. I'm usually happy with what I get in the bags so that is nothing new. I'm not entirely sure why they change the name of the company to ipsy. I don't really like the name. If someone knows why they changed it I would really be interested in hearing about that.

Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing 2012

So as you may have noticed, I have been a little MIA in the past few weeks. My excuses? Computer Science.. and well, Computer Science. It all goes back to my major, honestly. I have been struggling to find time for my programs and blogging, as well. If you know what Computer Science is, then you would know it can be very time consuming if you are handed something to do that you have no idea how to start or put together. So, I have been around a computer, just not blogging.

If you follow me on Twitter/Instagram then you will know I recently had the opportunity to go to Baltimore, Maryland. Thanks to my wonderful school, advisor, and some funds, me and another female student (Elise) got to go to the Grace Hopper Conference. If you know anything about Grace Hopper than you know she is a very special women that contributed her part in the history of programming. So every year women around the country, and world, come together in her honor to celebrate the accomplishments of all women in computing.

We had such a fun time meeting people from companies ranging from Microsoft and Apple, to Facebook and Twitter. It was a great way to network and meet new people that are studying the same thing as you, AND were women. I had the chance to hear about a lot of the exciting work they are doing in their jobs and at their schools.

Calling Game Of Thrones Fans!

If you have been reading my blog since the summer, or if you happened to read this post, you would know I have been very much in love with the tv series Game of Thrones. I'm very happy to report that I have now moved on to the books, and they are amazing! So what does this have to do with the photos above? One random day in the Summer I came upon a tumblr page that I found because of Pinterest, called What Would Khaleesi Wear?. Yep, doesn't that sound like the coolest thing?

If you don't know Khaleesi (or Daenerys Targaryen) is one of the main characters from the this series and my personal favorite. This Tumblr page basically shows what she would wear, and let me tell you, it's one of the most inspiring things I've seen in a while. I love her style when she's wearing more flowy dresses and looks more feminine.

I would love to wear some of the stuff here in real life, but people would look at my weird. So until one day when this is acceptable on a daily basis, I will visit this page to get ideas.

I hope you guys find this as cool as I did. Go check it out and see if you like any of the outfits! :)

October 2012 Birchbox (goop)

This month's box is a collaboration with the website goop.com. This website apparently specializes in trends and pretty simple but stylish items. They send out a weekly email "issue" with these items. According to Birchbox, this month's theme was "Transformation". Not sure how transformative these items are though.

Read the cards below for the actual description (:
(click them to make bigger!)

Caudalalie | Vinoperfect Radiance Serum: If any of you are like me and constantly read beauty blogs, or watch YT videos, you will know this brand is quite popular at the moment with most. I was so excited to receive this sample (which is probably the size of my thumb in height). It is suppose to brighten skin tone and fade dark spots. It seems like an interesting product, and I can't wait to try it. This brand is also a bit expensive, so I probably won't be trying the full size.
Full size, $79

DDF | Brightening Cleanser: Yes.. this is probably the biggest bottle I have received in Birchbox. Not only that, but the heaviest. Haha. As soon as I was handed my box at the post office, I began shaking it because I felt the obvious weight difference from previous boxes. Finally! A good sample size! I also think I will get a good use out of this since it's so big. I'm pretty excited to try this cleanser!
Full size, $38

per-fekt Beauty | Lip Perfection Gel in Melrose: Before I talk about the item, let's just point out the cute packaging for this tiny sample. It's super cute, and even my roommate noticed it. I like the way they show their other colors off. Very smart idea and it definitely get's the person's attention. Now, back to the sample. Isn't it tiny? Yes, it is a sample after all but so much flower for the tiniest little center. I actually like this color. Very fitting for Fall and my skin tone. So, good job Birchbox on that.
Full size, $24

Miracle Skin Transformer | SPF20 Face: So when I saw this I wasn't sure what it was. It looks like a foundation, but it claims the same things as a BB cream. However, they never call it a foundation OR BB cream. Apparently it is a a primer with a tint. That makes sense, right? Well, on another note, I think two mini samples is pretty good. I will probably get either one or two uses out of this. Depends on how I feel it covers my face.
Full size, $48

Lifestyle Extra
LUNA Fiber | Chocolate Raspberry: This fiber bar sounds pretty good. I'm not really a fan of fruit bars, but this one has chocolate, so it might be better. The raspberry also makes me question if I will like this, but I will definitely give it a shot.
Pack of 15: $14.95

Lifestyle Extra
Mighty Leaf Tea | Assorted Teas: I always get so excited to get tea. I'm sure most people wouldn't want to get any in their Birchbox, but it's fun to try new teas. Sure, it sucks if you don't like any, but out of three chances are you will like at least one. These flavors sound so yummy, I mean.. Green Tea Tropical, Organic Earl Grey, Organic African Nectar. Yum!
Box of 15: $9.95

Overall Opinion
I was pretty content with my box this month. I got some pretty yummy things (Mighty leaf Tea & Luna Fiber bar), so I can't complain about that - specially if they were extras! Love that they sent a bigger sample this month (DDF cleanser) and that it made me think I was getting my dollar's worth. Of course, I can't forget to mention the little sample from Caudelie! So, I liked my box. It was filled with a variety of things I will definitely be trying out in the weeks ahead! :)
